On May 17, 2023, the US Department of Defense (DoD) and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) jointly announced a statement regarding the US government’s proposal calling for the opening of the 3300-3400 MHz band for 5G mobile services within the Americas Region.
5G Americas responds with the following statement:
“5G Americas is encouraged that NTIA and DoD are considering making 3.3 – 3.4 GHz spectrum available for commercial wireless use. However, it is important to prioritize studying the entire 3.1 – 3.45 GHz swath of spectrum. The US must continue to lead when it comes to developing a spectrum plan and pipeline that includes support for study of the 7.125 – 15.35 GHz band at the World Radiocommunication Conference along with restoring the FCC’s spectrum auction authority.”
