5G Americas Responds to Release of DoD EMBRSS Feasibility Report

On April 3, 2024, the United States Department of Defense (DoD) released a redacted version of its September 2023 Emerging Mid-Band Radar Spectrum Sharing (EMBRSS) Feasibility Assessment Report.

In regard to the report, 5G Americas has the following statement:

“US leadership in mobile communications and technology is vital to national security. 5G Americas appreciates the National Spectrum Strategy’s efforts to enhance the utilization of the lower 3 GHz band, recognizing the importance of aligning the needs of the US Department of Defense (DoD) with the commercial sector’s aspirations for advancing mobile communications. Acknowledging the global coexistence of 5G with these defense systems, we underscore the necessity of exploring effective approaches beyond traditional spectrum sharing, including relocation and optimization of federal spectrum use, to make more spectrum available for commercial services. 5G Americas is committed to engaging in cooperative efforts, advocating for solutions that accommodate the rapidly expanding wireless landscape as soon as possible, while respecting our nation’s defense imperatives.”
