Vice President and Head of Mobile Network 5G Strategy Evolution
Micael Narup is Vice President and Head of Mobile Network 5G Network Strategy Evolution for Ericsson in North America. In this role he focuses on the Evolution to 5G primarily of the Radio Network including the virtualization. The responsibility also entails driving the end to end activities across the North American Ericsson organization as well as supporting all customers with the evolution to 5G in the North American market.
Prior to his current role, Micael responsiblity was to establish the LTE TDD portfolio and integrate this into a common structure and make part of the combined release of LTE (FDD/TDD), making LTE TDD to ‘just another frequency’ addition in the LTE portfolio for both system functionality as well as all TDD Radio. In this job Micael has been based in China for the last 7 years, adding to his 24 years of international Telecommunication experience. In this position Micael was also part of starting the LTE Massive MIMO products for TDD that are now starting to be introduced in the North American Market.
Micael has served in various positions in Product Management, Commercial Management as well as sales and Customer Solutions and was part of the 3G build and introduction into one of the major network builds in the US market enabling the first Smart Phones.
Micael holds a MScEE in Mobile, Optical and Microwave Networks from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm as well as an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School in Coventry UK. Micael has also been the Chairman for industry fora in the Front Haul area for the last 15 years.
